For Shosh

because she's such a faithful commentor...

My cookery for the day:

Mushroom Chicken

Pineapple Chicken

Coq Au Vin

Stuffed Cabbage

Potato Kugel

8 loaves of Challah

Hot Dogs in Dough

Meat Bourekas

Yellow cake

(that's the stuffed cabbage raw. It looks much yummiers and browner now)

Methinks that's all.

Have an easy fast, all Yom Kippur-celebrators...see y'all on Thursday night/Friday morning-when I shall have new cookery pics to share!

Oh and just because they're so cute-my kids are currently obsessed with cleaning-they follow my cleaning lady (Tuesdays are the est day of the week) around the house trying to help her. In the past day and a half, they've used almost an entire package of Clorox wipes...I don't have the heart to stop them-but they seem to concentrate mostly on the front door and my front stoop-yes, they Clorox OUTSIDE my house. Whateva. They're happy.

Um....is the food for me too?? It looks amazing.

Can you please let me in on your secret of how to be so darn effective? I'm guessing it has something to do with not stopping every 10 minutes to check peoples blogs.....

  5. Is there any other Shosh?
    Smooch smooch...
Re my efficiency...lists, lists, lists. I make plans for EVERYTHING. Menus far in advance (as in I can tell you on Wednesday what I will be making for dinner NEXT week). I have a cooking schedule for Sukkos, etc.
And I cook fast yet messy. I'm very messy. I've been married 11 years and have never dropped things in my oven-but in the past 3 weeks I've dropped 2. So I'm messy. And I refuse to make things with more than 2 steps. I adore chicken wontons but you could not pay me to make them.
    :)

  7. We are not coming this year because the inlaws are coming here instead (smile smile) along with Ben and his wife - she is due in a coulple of weeks with #2. So I'm a little overwelmed with food and all-since I've never had sleep over company for a yom tov before...so do you freeze all that food that you made for sukkos?

  8. Boo hoo Michelle....would've been nice to see you!
I froze everything that I made-I only made freezer friendly stuff.
At least I hope it's freezer friendly :)

  9. Wow, and I thought I was being prepared by cooking for sukkos before shabbos! Do you have a recipe for the chicken in wine sauce- it looks amazing!
I also am really bad about making challahs at home so those looked very good as well.
I cannot believe how much you have cooked and so far in advance. I need you to show me your lists I think.
And yes, btw, I do sign my name with a different name when I leave comments on other peoples blogs. Sorry for the confusion!

  11. Coq Au Vin (this was the easiest version I could find online-and it smelled excellent)

    3 tbsp. olive oil
    2 carrots, sliced
    3/4 c. chopped onions
    1 clove garlic
    1 chicken, cut in pieces
    2 tbsp. flour
    2 tbsp. parsley
    1 tbsp. marjoram
    1/2 tsp. thyme
    1/2 bay leaf
    Pepper
    1 1/2 c. red wine
    8-10 mushrooms, sliced
Brown onion, carrot, garlic in olive oil in large frying pan. Push aside and brown chicken pieces on both sides. Mix together flour, parsley, marjoram, thyme, bay leaf, pepper. Sprinkle mixture over chicken. Add red wine. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for an hour. Add mushrooms last 5 minutes.
